Prison 'Games of Hope' olympics in Italy unite inmates and staff
What happened
Sport has the power to unite, and overcome barriers... In Rome, inmates and prison officers became athletes for the day, and took part in a sort of mini prison olympics. Organised by the John Paul II foundation for sport, this is the third edition of the “Games of Hope”, over a year after it was held in the men's wing of the prison in 2025. Story by Emily Boyle.
