The persist feature in OpenBSDs doas(1) uses a new tty(4) ioctl(2) which allows to create ( TIOCSETVERAUTH ), clear ( TIOCCLRVERAUTH ) and check ( IOCCHKVERAUTH ) authentications to the specific TTY with a timeout.
